On Sunday 20 July 2025 I attended both the ‘Old Ford Rally’, sponsored by ‘Peter James Insurance’ and the ‘Rootes Heritage Day’, both being held at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon. In many ways they are complementary events, celebrating and displaying products from the height of the British motor industry, from the 1930s to the 1980s. All very nostalgic to those who, like me, lived through some of that time.
Unlike previous years, the weather was a little wet, this was in stark contrast with the exceptionally warm and sunny weather we have experienced in the U.K. this year. Fortunately the rain had stopped while I was there but I understand that those who were setting up, prior to the 10.00am opening, had to contend with persistent heavy rain. This hadn’t dampened their spirits, all those I spoke to were their usual enthusiastic selves.
