The main reason for me attending this year’s Coventry Motofest was receiving an invitation from Gary Collins, the archivist who had worked on the Warwick Healey Archive, to visit his latest project, the Lanchester Interactive Archive, see the link at the bottom of the page. It is located in the Lanchester Library on the Coventry University campus. In support of Coventry Motofest, LIA had arranged for some Lanchester and Daimler cars to be on display near to the entrance of the Lanchester Library. So, my main quest on Saturday 02 June was to photograph those Lanchester and Daimler cars then find my way to the L.I.A on the second floor of the library. I did all this and more and it will be the subject of a separate post. Having accomplished that mission I was free to wander up Gosford Street towards Broadgate, taking in and photographing all the automotive delights on display. Because, these days my time is mostly taken up by writing the monthly Warwick Healey Motor Company Archive (WHMCA) Bulletin I am sorry but the following photographs will have to tell the 2018 Coventry Motofest story for themselves, without much dialogue from me. One thing I will say, is, that both days, the Saturday, when I went, and the Sunday, were blessed by the best of weather. This meant that people came in crowds to see the cars on display and watch demonstrations on the Coventry Ring Road which was closed to normal traffic. I didn’t actually get to that section of the festival this year but it received excellent coverage on local TV. See you in Warwick on Sunday 12th August!
