Whether you’re competing or soaking up the atmosphere as a spectator\, this is your chance to be part of living motorsport history. \nHere are some highlights of the event: \n\nYou can watch some of the coolest cars in the country race up the hill.\nIf you’re interested\, you can even drive your own car up the course! DESCRIPTION:The first International St. Moritz Automobile Week was launched in 1929.  It was financed by\, somewhat logically\, the local tourist industry of the time.\n\n\nIn those days the automobile week consisted of a rally\, the kilometre race\, a skill race\, a concours and finally the Bernina Hill Climb\, now known as the ‘Bernina Gran Turismo’. This latter element\, held since 2015\, is now rightly considered to be one of the most beautiful events in the historic racing calendar. \nThe current edition of the “International St. Moritz Automobile Week” also commences with a sprint race\, the “Kilomètre Lancé – Alpine 1000”\, but now takes place on the runway of Engadin Airport. \nThere is also the Automotive Film Festival first introduced in 2021\, which offers historic cinematic delights appropriate to the theme of St. Moritz Automobile Week.  \nMany of the elements of the early events are embedded in the current activities including a ‘Concours d’Elegance and a “Garden Party” where enthusiasts can mix and exchange stories in a convivial atmosphere surrounded by exotic automotive machinery. \nRM Sotheby’s will again be holding a ‘Collector Car’ auction in the grounds of the Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains.  \nAnd then there is “Le piece de la resistance”\, the Bernina Gran Turismo. The technical vehicle scrutineering will also take place in front of the Kempinski Grand Hotel des Bains\, offering spectators the opportunity to observe the racing vehicles up close. DESCRIPTION:The Kop Hill Climb was first held in 1910 and soon established itself as one of the major events in the Motor Sport Calendar\, attracting many famous competitors and cars. In 1925 a recalcitrant spectator was struck by a motorcycle and sustained a broken leg. As a result\, the RAC withdrew its permission for the Hill Climb to be held\, as a competition\, again. \nToday it’s no longer a competition\, but a moving celebration of the history of the car and the motorcycle. As part of his long association with the venue\, Moss was a patron of the Shelsley Trust\, which helped to secure the 99-year lease on the Hillclimb during the mid-2000s.\nKnown throughout the motoring world for its unique atmosphere\, Shelsley allows enthusiasts to get close to the action as well as the cars and drivers.
