Despite the weather being more typical of late March than late June, I would think that the organisers would have been delighted by the magnificent turn out both of classic cars, trucks and visitors. The venue of Highnam Court with its beautifully laid out and cared for gardens and lakes, just could not be bettered. In deserved pride of place, on the front lawn, were examples of Bob Petersen’s magnificent classic Bentley Recreations. Just to look at them took your breath away for several reasons – i) admiration of W.O. Bentley’s original design and all the success that those cars achieved in their pomp. ii) the exquisite construction and attention to detail of Bob Petersen’s Recreation cars. I first came across one of his “Blue Train” recreations at an Amelia Island FL. Concours Show some years ago. I was impressed then and these cars on display at the Pied Piper event only served to underline that admiration.
Whilst the Petersen cars may be classed as outstanding, they were not alone in their rarity and standard of presentation, as you will see from the following photographs. I was surprised by the number of early Rolls Royces and Daimlers on display. But enough of the talk, as I always say, let the photos of the cars speak for themselves –
